I recorded radio 4 into one channel as I improvised the track live. The Blind Watchmaker had either just come out (but that was 1986) so maybe he was giving an interview as it was released on paperback.
Brace Yourself is an EP by Mike Paradinas released in 1998 under his main moniker µ-Ziq. The title of this EP is derived from the track "Brace Yourself Jason" from µ-Ziq's earlier album Lunatic Harness and features two remixes of the title track itself, "Brace Yourself (Remix)" and "Brace Yourself (Reprise)". Brace Yourself" (Remix) (5:56). Losers March" (4:42). Summer Living" (4:03).

He has released music under various appellations, among them "Jake Slazenger" "Kid Spatula" "Gary Moscheles", "Tusken Raiders" and "Rude Ass Tinker", and under his primary moniker as µ-Ziq has collaborated with one of the most visible leaders of the modern electronic movement, Richard D. James (Aphex Twin) on the album Mike & Rich - Expert Knob Twiddlers.
This quartet of tracks starts with the album version of the cut - a jazzy, dreamy, hyperactive drill'n'bass production with melody lines that seem composed by the Milton Bradley game Simon. Next comes "Hanky Pokery," featuring an edgy buzzing funk bassline that carries listeners along through a heavily garnished rhythm track that never sits still for very long (much like Paradinas himself).
Two IDM oddballs, one cult record. In 1996, Richard D. James (Aphex Twin) invited Michael Paradinas (µ-Ziq) to record a collaborative album as Mike & Rich. Released on James’ Rephlex Records, the self-titled album become known as Expert Knob Twiddlers for its excellent cover art, which recalls the great Milton Bradley table games of the ’70s and ’80s
Lime Crumble RY30 Trax were made in 1995 while µ-Ziq aka Mike Paradinas was recording Jake Slazenger material for Warp. Includes unlimited streaming via the free Bandcamp app, plus high-quality download in MP3, FLAC and more. Purchasable with gift card.
Evoking a sloppy cartoon dance performed with drunken abandon, it finds the producers doing what they do best-knob twiddling-with a penchant for psychedelic oddity. Earlier this year, Paradinas uncovered a long lost µ-Ziq album written between 1996-1998. One of his label's recent signings is Antwood, a Canadian microbiologist making club music imagined by artificial intelligence. Check out the track below, as well as album tracklist below that.
