Live in New York is a 1981 live double album by James Brown. It was recorded in 1980 at the Studio 54 nightclub. It includes two studio instrumentals, "Brown's Inferno" and "Bay Ridge Boogy", performed by the Bay Ridge Band. In 1982 a single-LP abbreviation of Live in New York's contents was released under the title Mean on the Scene (Audio Fidelity/Phoenix).

New York is the fifteenth solo studio album by American musician Lou Reed, released in January 1989 by Sire Records. The album received universal critical success upon release, and is widely considered Reed's strongest solo effort since Transformer, if not ever. It is highly regarded for the strength and force of its lyrical content; Reed stated that he required simple music so that it would not distract from his frank lyrics. The single "Dirty Blvd.

Are you ready for Star Time?" exclaimed MC Lucas "Fats" Gonder from the stage of Harlem's Apollo on 24 October, 1962. Then James Brown and band hit the stage. The resultant recording of their performances on that Wednesday night unquestionably shows Brown as a master of his art. Switching from short, wild instrumental vamps to hot, sweaty ballads, the atmosphere is feverish. James Brown went on to perform in a multitude of arenas and stadiums, in Vietnam and Africa, for presidents, and on television shows beamed to millions. But on a cold night in October 1962, in front of 1,500 hungry Harlemites, he really ripped the roof off the sucker.

The Apollo Theater, New York, NY. Submit Corrections. Confident Rousing Dramatic Earnest Earthy Gritty Swaggering Celebratory Exuberant Passionate Playful Rollicking Romantic Yearning. When King Records owner Syd Nathan refused to fund the recording, thinking it commercial folly, Brown single-mindedly proceeded anyway, paying for it out of his own pocket. He had been out on the road night after night for a while, and he knew that the magic that was part and parcel of a James Brown show was something no record had ever caught. Hit follows hit without a pause - "I'll Go Crazy," "Try Me," "Think," "Please Please Please," "I Don't Mind," "Night Train," and more.

Down and Out in New York City Lyrics. Give me a shine, bo. When the cold wind comes, it lives at New York City And the street's no place to be but there you are So you try hard, or you die hard No one really gives a good damn You try hard, and you die hard No one gives a damn. Here's a dime boy. Down and out in New York City Ain't nowhere to be, but where can you go? When you're down and out in New York City When you wa. .
