In 2001, Wood produced his first album was a ten-track lo-fi love compilation entitled "Rekinbol". Wood soon formed The Dorian Wood Guilt Trip with guitarist Dan Kozak, and together they released a self-titled EP in 2003. They also recorded a cover of Malvina Reynolds' "Little Boxes" for the compilation disc, "Don't Know When I'll Be Back Again". In 2004, Wood became a part of the gospel choir known as The Northern Embers as vocalist and pianist.

Dorian Wood (born in 1975) is an American singer, composer, performance artist, visual artist and writer. Wood was born in Los Angeles, California to Costa Rican parents. They began their musical education at a very early age, under the tutelage of their grandfather, the pianist Calasanz Alvarez. In their early teens, Wood’s parents divorced, and Wood’s mother moved them and their sisters to Costa Rica.
