In 2001, it was awarded a Grammy Hall of Fame Award, a special achievement prize established in 1973 to honor recordings that are at least twenty-five years old, and that have "qualitative or historical significance
Armstrong himself is in fine form, trading deadpan asides with bassist Johnny Williams on "Rockin' Chair," phrasing magisterially on "Do You Know What It Means to Miss New Orleans," or improvising with seemingly infinite inventiveness on "Ain't Misbehavin'" (complete with an exuberant and totally unexpected quotation from "Rhapsody in Blue"). Other highpoints include a guest appearance by Billie Holiday, who's also in good form, and a great drum solo by the legendary Sidney Catlett
