In 1975, Jerry Nolan and Johnny Thunders quit the New York Dolls. As the 1970s New York punk scene oral history Please Kill Me notes, the other members of the Dolls had grown weary of touring with drug addicts, anyway. That same week, Richard Hell quit Television. So Thunders called Hell, asked if he wanted to start a new band, and boom: the Heartbreakers, the first great punk rock supergroup, was born. You can see them on that book's cover with blood on their shirts and perfect hair . Unless you're a Thunders fanatic, not really. Even the Richard Hell demos feel like a missed opportunity. There are definitely added perks in the box, including some badass "Born to Lose" buttons and a detailed timeline of the band's history.
