Watch Eric Clapton Perform at Royal Albert Hall. Admitting he'd gotten annoyed while sitting in the audience for a boxing match at the venue, he elaborated on what kept drawing him back to the stage there. It's got a very genteel, sophisticated and yet comfortable atmosphere. Like it is like a club," he mused. It reminds me of what the Marquee was like in the early days, you know; everybody is very very comfortable at home, and you feel welcome. I don't have half the nerves there that I have anywhere else. And Clapton's love affair with the Hall continues. As yet another demonstration of his affection, he scheduled shows to celebrate his 70th birthday at the Royal Albert Hall between May 14-23, 2015 - a run of dates that, as the venue pointed out, marks a half century since he first played there with the Yardbirds in December 1964. Eric Clapton Albums Ranked.

Eric Clapton has announced details of a three-night residency at London’s iconic Royal Albert Hall in May 2019. Following on from recent shows at New York’s Madison Square Garden and headlining this summer’s British Summer Time at London’s Hyde Park, Clapton will be accompanied by band members Chris Stainton, Nathan East, Doyle Bramhall and Sonny Emory. Having first performed at the Royal Albert Hall with The Yardbirds in 1964, Eric Clapton has played at the venue more than 200 times including farewell and reunion gigs with Cream and numerous residencies. In September 2018, Clapton was honoured – along with The Who’s Roger Daltrey – with specially-engraved stones outside the venue.

Over 50 years since making his debut at the Royal Albert Hall, Eric Clapton returns for three shows in 2017. Since making his debut on 7 December 1964 as part of the Yardbirds, the legendary guitarist has surpassed an unfathomable 200 Hall performances, marked 50 years of music, and celebrated his 70th birthday here in 2015. Clapton’s career as a professional musician has seen him create an abundance of albums with numerous bands, tour countless sold out shows worldwide, amass an impressive array of accolades and earn himself unwavering critical acclaim

Eric Clapton booked a series of shows at his beloved venue the Royal Albert Hall in May of 2015, choosing to document this stint via a concert film and an accompanying album, both called Slowhand at 70: Live at the Royal Albert Hall. This is not the first live album of Clapton's to be recorded at the Royal Albert Hall - 1991's 24 Nights documented a near month-long residency at the London hall - and, generally, this performance does have a familiar feel, thanks in part to the set and in part to Clapton playing with a band who has been. with him for a long time.
