The First Lady is the fourth studio album by American recording artist Faith Evans. Despite this, the singer reunited with much of her frequent contributors to work on the album, including The Neptunes, Chucky Thompson, and Mario Winans. Duo Carvin & Ivan of Karma Productions wrote and produced the predominant part of all songs that were included in the final track listing
Faith Renée Jordan (née Evans; born June 10, 1973) is an American singer, songwriter, record producer, and actress. Born in Lakeland, Florida, and raised in New Jersey, Evans relocated to Los Angeles in 1991 for a career in the music business.
Summary: The singer's first album in four years features contributions from the Neptunes, Jermaine Dupri and Mario Winans.
The First Lady, Faith Evans' fourth album of modern R&B, is a complex package to decode. Before you listen to a single note, the disc makes an interesting impression. And before you even look at the cover, you inevitably come to the record with expectations. Maybe it's a problem that the music itself could wind up secondary to its hype and packaging - or is music is strong enough to stand alone? First, you probably know that Evans was introduced to The Notorious .

Her first album released on the label, The First Lady (2005) became her highest-charting album at the time, reaching the top of the US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts, while the holiday album A Faithful Christmas, released the same year, would become her last release before the company was bought in 2007. Following a longer hiatus, Evans released her fifth album Something About Faith on the independent label Prolific/E1 Music in 2010.
Faith Evans is a oducer who was the first lady of Bad Boy Entertainment and former wife of the label’s star, The Notorious . After working as a background. The album was certified platinum and featured the gold singles You Used To Love Me and Soon As I Get Home. After Biggie’s murder on March 9, 1997, Faith-along with Puff Daddy and 112-paid tribute to him on the pop single I’ll Be Missing You, which won a Grammy for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group in 1998. Her second album, Keep the Faith, also achieved platinum status and featured the gold single Love Like This.
Titling her new album The First Lady muddles things even further. Does it refer to her status as the "president's" widow, or to her determination to be a soul empress in her own right? Evans herself seemed slightly uncertain at this industry-only show, as well she might. On the one hand, this is her first CD since leaving former mentor Sean Combs, and there's much to prove. On the other, she had the Biggie factor to thank for the large turnout and the sense of expectation.
