Glenn Wilson's take on his own Battlefield brings the aural nuclear warfare aesthetic straight through the artery of your audio field and makes the competition wince in embarrassment. He actually succeeds in improving the original, a sure shot crusher in its own right, by accoutering the tune with nasty crooked drums, boiling hot bass line and a superb mid section passage where he introduces the original's loop after a briefer break. It doesn't deviate from the Heroes formula, on the contrary, it does it justice by jogging along nicely to other reworks of his own material on the imprint. Harsh, percussive and damn relentless - Heroes in a nut shell.On the flip side, it's Patrik Skoog who takes the cake, rounding things off with a tough tribal ground shaker, reshaping the zealous and enthusiastic Sentinel by injecting it with some Native Diffusion gravy; looped vocal snippets are seamlessly intertwined with beefed-up drum patterns, animating, lively loops and well textured passages taking turns to ensure the crowd's never ending euphoria. Bottom line is that both of these contributions are well worth it, the first one because it (amazingly) tops the intensity of the original, and the second one because it recaptures the raw energy of the original through mr. Skoog's amazing take on the rougher side of tribal techno.If nothing else will convince you, this record has two high quality floor burners that will move a crowd of paraplegics any one direction you pick. Quite probably my second pick of the Heroes X series, after the jaw dropping "H1 Remixes" with the immaculate A. Kowalski and The Anxious contributions.
