Richie cole-hollywood madness 1980 muse rec. Lp mr 5207 exc. Vg+ eddie jefferson. 8h 33m. Richie Cole~Alto Madness~Eddie Jefferson, Harold Mabern~Muse Records~FAST SHIP. Luckily, the first true single for this album, "Madness", is not quite as bad as my first impression with "The 2nd Law". Unfortunately, most of the things that go right with "Madness" are thanks to Muse's shameless plagiarism of the almighty Queen. I could call this listenable, but if this is the best thing that this Muse album has to offer, then I shall schedule post-traumatic stress therapy in advance. Queen's "I Want to Break Free" was a decent song- not one of their best, but pretty good. It had a 80's beat, great.

Four songs utilize the Manhattan Transfer; the great vocalese singer Eddie Jefferson (heard two weeks before his tragic death) makes his final record appearance; there are some good solos by pianist Dick Hindman and guitarist Bruce Forman; and Tom Waits makes an eccentric guest appearance.

Eddie Jefferson (August 3, 1918 – May 9, 1979) was a jazz vocalist and lyricist. Jefferson himself claims that his main influence was Leo Watson. Eddie Jefferson was shot and killed at Baker's Keyboard Lounge on May 8, 1979, aged 60. He had left the club with fellow bandleader Cole around 1:35 . and was shot while walking out of the building. A late-model Lincoln Continental was spotted speeding away from the scene. The Manhattan Transfer honored both Jefferson and Coleman Hawkins in their vocal version of "Body and Soul" on their album Extensions in 1979. 1953: The Bebop Singers (Prestige [rel.
