Melbourne’s Miami Horror are known for their sleek, organic indietronica, but it sounds as if the four-piece are interested in pushing past such simple classifications. Today they’ve announced a one-off conceptual release that doubles as a sonic/art experience in the form of new EP The Shapes, with eclectic lead single Leila serving as a first taste. A press release explains that the band’s new project will find them dabbling in everything from the art pop and lyrical wit of Talking Heads to Caribbean funk and African beats.

Miami Horror are an Australian electronic music band from Melbourne, Victoria. Miami Horror was initially formed by its producer and DJ, Benjamin Plant who began it as a solo project. In addition to Plant, the band currently consists of Josh Moriarty (guitars and vocals), Daniel Whitechurch (bass, keyboards, and guitars), and Kosta Theodosis (drums).

Just got mine yesterday, thin non gate-fold jacket. Shipping seemed a little high at $10, and when I asked when mine was going to be shipped since it was taking a little while, they responded "when we are back in LA." Well I live in LA, so why did I just spend more on shipping than ever for a vinyl? oh well, the packaging had the shipping costs ($2.63) so guess they made some money there. Vinyl is a splashed blue look, I prefer the 5 songs on one side. Overall happy to add to collection, but definitely not a bargain.

It's a very pricey EP (30$ + shipping from the US). And i dont know why there are 5 tracks on side A and only one on side B. It could have easily been manufactured with 45rpm, if they put 3 Songs on each side. Or is this just a mistake by the creator of this release?Maybe i will buy it when there is a dicount or someone on Discogs sells it for an fair price. But i am not willing to pay 50$ for this piece of Vinyl, although i really like it.According to an Instagram post of the band this release is limited to 200 copies.EDIT: I finally got one copy from the official Miami Horror website during RSD. I "only" paid 18$ (plus 26$ shipping to Germany...) and i do not think that i will get it cheaper one day as it is a very limited record (although there is not much demand). Unlike the Illumination repress this record was sealed. The record itself is in a plain white innser sleeve and the cover should have been a few millimeters bigger. I barely get the record in the cover with an antistatic inner sleeve.The record itself looks absolutely great and so is the sound.

My theory is that they did it for convenience to the most listeners. I think more people will listen to the first 5 tracks over the last track, so they put 5 on one side so you don't have to flip half way through. But I agree with you, I would have preferred 3 at 45rpm each side.
