Open Road is the debut solo album by British singer-songwriter Gary Barlow. It was released by BMG and RCA Records on 26 May 1997 in Europe, and on 13 January 1998 in America. Following the break-up of Take That, Barlow went straight into the recording studio and began recording a solo album. On 5 July 1996, the album's lead single, "Forever Love", was released, peaking at on the UK Singles Chart

The album remained at number 1 in the UK Albums Chart the following week, selling 75,538 copies-the third highest weekly sale by any artist album in 2012, and the highest for 16 weeks. Gary Barlow began performing in small bars and clubs around the north west of England in the late 1980s, before becoming the major musical force behind Take That. The release of Take That's first album, Take That & Party in 1992 saw a prolonged period of success for the group, which ended with their third album, Nobody Else spawning three number one hits in the UK written by Barlow.
