Future (stylized on digital releases as FUTURE) is the eponymous fifth studio album by American rapper Future. It was released on February 17, 2017, by A1 Recordings, Freebandz and Epic Records. The album features production by Metro Boomin, Zaytoven, DJ Khaled, The Beat Bully, Southside, alongside production from other members of 808 Mafia such as DY, Fuse, Tarentino and Tre Pounds. The album was supported by three singles: "Draco", "Mask Off" and "Extra Luv".
FUTURE is the fifth album by Atlanta rapper Future. It was released on February 17, 2017. The original release of FUTURE contained 17 featureless tracks that spanned just over an hour. In June of 2017, Future added Used To This, the official Mask Off Remix, and Extra Luv to the album’s tracklist.
Future is certainly a prolific artist, though it is getting a bit excessive. Since 2011, he has released at least two projects every year, often three or more. His work ethic, long a point of personal pride, paid big dividends across an excellent mixtape trilogy ( Monster, Beast Mode, and 56 Nights ) in the run up to his commercial peak with Dirty Sprite 2 and his cash-in collaboration with Drake, What a Time to Be Alive In bringing all these previous personas together, he creates an album that’s mostly retreads. And there are a few moments that completely lack Future’s patented dynamism and evocation, particularly Good Dope and Scrape. But even on autopilot, Future can churn out some truly high octane flows ( POA ), sweetly-sung gun ballads ( Draco ), and some pleasant surprises (like the hum-heavy throbber I’m So Groovy ).
1) The album cover of Future Future's debut album, Insight probably describes the band's sound and ideology better than words. It features a close-up picture of what at first appears to be some sort of alien female genitalia but is, in fact a mirrored image of warm, steaming innards of a pig. With slimy andouilles and sweetbreads making up the labia and clitoris and leaving the rest to the imagination.
FUTURE pays homage to the ATL rapper’s roots (and now-legendary string of underground mixtapes) with plenty of 808 boom, warped synths, and jittery rhymes. When his lyrics look back on the experiences that shaped him-especially with tracks like Feds Did a Sweep or When I Was Broke -it's a hypnotic glimpse into the mind of Atlanta’s trap king. It feels right that Future’s first self-titled release allows his different personas to grab the mic: Depending on the track, he’s the party starter, the ladies' man, the hustler, or the hedonist. FUTURE' is a reminder that Future is trap music’s phoenix-the second you consider him dead, he only burns brighter. So far I feel like FUTURE the album is cut from the same cloth as Beast Mode, 56 Nights and Monster. A mixtape Future with album-tier production. Stunt raps are hit or miss to me these days. This one is right in the middle. Future made this album for the woofers. I’m pretty sure this one will be heard from the Eastside to the Westside all summer. A Ms. Piggy molly line.
