The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time" is a 2003 special issue of American biweekly magazine Rolling Stone, and a related book published in 2005.
This hit about a Big Easy streetwalker remains in rotation 35 years after it hit Number One. The group was from Philadelphia, but the nasty groove was classic New Orleans, with producer Toussaint and his house band, legendary R&B stalwarts the Meters, funking up the beat. This gospel-rock hymn featured Dreamgirls star Jennifer Holliday, one of the Thompson Twins and, most notably, the New Jersey Mass Choir. Said Jones, "I'll always remember them getting in a circle before we did it and everyone saying the Lord's Prayer. That probably didn't happen for "Hot Blooded" - but this soaring ballad became Foreigner's biggest hit. Appears on: Agent Provocateur (Atlantic).

It is hard to pick between this and Zeppelin IV, but overall as an album the songs are put together so perfectly. This will honestly be the most well spent 42 minutes of your life. Journey is alright but it has nothing on Floyd, Zeppelin, Queen, and a bunch of other bands. Led Zeppelin IV and Night at the Opera are also really epic but this one can really change your mind. The Dark Side of the moon has a concept, a whole lotta great wise lyrics and I love albums that are like a trip into the music
The Greatest Funk Hits of All Time.
Now baby, listen baby, don't ya treat me this-a way Cause I'll be back on my feet some day. Don't care if you do 'cause it's understood you ain't got no money you just ain't no good Well, I guess if you say so I'd have to pack my things and go. That's right. What you say? Hit the road Jack and don't you come back no more, no more, no more, no more.
Hit singles came later, but Van Halen's self-titled debut album was a thunderbolt from the blue for rock music. David Lee Roth swaggered and crooned, but it was Eddie Van Halen that was the star of the show, redefining rock guitar playing through his legendary Eruption - a song that was literally entirely a solo and which brought tapping into the mainstream. It was probably their darkest, densest record; but, paradoxically, contained their most uplifting hit, the anthemic One. Inventive, interesting and full of great songs, it's probably their best album.
