Profile: Cuban All-Star ensemble directed by Juan Pablo Torres, formed in 1979 based on an idea from Ivorian record producer Sinze Raoul Diomandé.

Buena Vista Social Club. In 1975, he recorded his eponymous solo album backed by members of Jorrín's orchestra; the album was released by Areíto as LD-3582. 1 In 1979, he recorded the album Los héroes as part of the Estrellas de Areito all-star ensemble. After Jorrín's death in 1987, González briefly took over the role of bandleader, but retired soon after.

About Estrellas de Areito. In 1979, an all-star cast was assembled in Havana for what would become a legendary recording session. Under the direction of trombone player Juan Pablo Torres, more than thirty musicians - young and old - were brought together to jam on classic Cuban songs. New arrangements were written and musicians were encouraged to improvise in a loose, but competitive atmosphere. It was the last brilliant performance for trumpeter Felix Chappotin, as well as for singers Tito Gomez and Felix Chappottin.
