Needless to say, it was a pleasant surprise to see Pelican release an EP virtually out of nowhere, after touring lightly and not making the slightest peep after releasing their comme ci comme ça What We All Come To Need in 2009. Does the band’s latest effort, Ataraxia/Taraxis regain some of their composure, or does it continue down the road of mediocrity".

there is also a blue vinyl version ava through southern lord records, I ordered a copy.i see on the discogs page for this release they have the two, for lack of better word at the moment, 'weakest' tracks from the lp to sample. that'll help sales. dont judge the ep by those 2 songs. if you are not familiar with Pelican and think these two tracks represent them well you'll be a bit taken back when you hear everything else. not that i dont like the two songs, i like them and love acoustic based music, just for me personally there is an ingredient missing esp with the track Ataraxia. and whats with the sleigh bells in the middle of Taraxis lol? Was this song written around Xmaz? and was it slatted for a Pelican appearance on some Post whatthefuckeveryouwannacallitnow Rock Xmaz comp?Still compared to most of the stuff you've bought recently this ep is better.
