Bio. Nicholas’ most satisfyingly eclectic collection of original American roots music yet, Fresh Air has just been acclaimed by Downbeat magazine by being included in their Best album releases of 2017 list It finds him drawing on all of the above and deep into his soul for words of wit, wisdom, and heart. My friend Johnny Nicholas writes and sings from way down inside, and plays every instrument with grit and grace

Old Habits was planned to be Smash Mouth's fifth studio album and was expected to be released in the summer of 2005. In September 2005, the band performed what was tentatively going to be the album's first single, "Getaway Car", on Last Call with Carson Daly.

I've good friends with bad habits What am I to do? Literary romantics They fuck like Wilde and indulge like Hemingway. I've good friends with bad habits And a tendency towards negligence Just petty thieves and addicts who don't hurt anyone But they'll burn anyway. Sometimes, like every time a train passes I get jealous of the long nights The blurred lights The red eyes and bar fights The "Where in the hell am I? And how did I get here with one shoe? And which way to the nearest train?" Sometimes, Like every time she breathes I embrace my routine

Heralded Austin-based blues/roots musician and songwriter Johnny Nicholas has reissued his long out-of-print 1977 album, Too Many Bad Habits, along with a special bonus disc of rare, previously unreleased performances. The two-disc set has been completely remastered and includes the liner notes from the original Blind Pig LP release in 1977. A new set of liner notes written by acclaimed author/music critic Ed Ward will also accompany the CDs and vinyl. Featured artists on the original sessions included blues legends Big Walter Horton on harmonica and vocals, Johnny Shines on guitar and vocals.
