Vocal + instrumental examples of early reggae with a strong on "Old Broom" which is voiced on the rhythm of The Termites 1968 recording 'My Baby Is Gone' (see The Termites - Drip Drop, My Baby Is Gone).

Keith Hudson aka the "Dark Prince of Reggae" (1946 – 14 November 1984), was a Jamaican reggae artist and record producer. He is known for his influence on the dub movement. Raised in a musical family, Hudson attended Boys Town School in Kingston, where he organised school concerts with schoolmates including Bob Marley, Delroy Wilson, and Ken Boothe.

Soul Syndicate, originally called the Rhythm Raiders, were one of the top reggae session bands in Jamaica from the early 1970s to the mid-1980s.

The Soul Syndicate provided the excellent rhythms which included two versions of ‘Riot’, U Roy Junior’s take on ‘Beat Down Babylon’ entitled ‘Tribal War’, ‘Don’t Start It Up’ a further version to Keith’s superb ‘Popular’ and closed with Keith Hudson’s beautiful, moving variation on ‘Just A Closer Walk With Thee’. This young man can simply be classified as a Soul Communicator. Hudson approaches a song with lustful stamina with ambition on verse in much the same manner. ‘Furnace’.

Keith Hudson's death in 1984 (he was only 38) robbed reggae of one of its most complex, innovative, and woefully underappreciated artists. His classic Pick a Dub album from 1974 was not only one of the first, but also one of the best sequences that dub has ever produced. This much-needed two-disc set is an update and expansion of sorts of Trojan's single-disc Studio Kinda Cloudy collection from 1988, and it includes highlights of Hudson's production work with various artists during the late '60s and mid-'70s, plus the above-mentioned singles and several dubs, versions, and instrumentals.
