Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is a 1978 American musical comedy film directed by Michael Schultz and written by Henry Edwards. The film tells the loosely constructed story of a band as they wrangle with the music industry and battle evil forces bent on stealing their instruments and corrupting their home town of Heartland. The film is presented in a form similar to that of a rock opera, with the songs providing "dialogue" to carry the story
Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is a double album produced by George Martin, featuring covers of songs by the Beatles. It was released in July 1978, as the soundtrack to the film Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, which starred the Bee Gees, Peter Frampton and Steve Martin. The project was managed by the Robert Stigwood Organisation (RSO)
Pepper now, what comes through most immediately is not the pressure the Beatles put on themselves or the musicianly challenges they surmounted.
She also appears on the Sgt. Pepper album cover three times over, her hair poking out from between the wax figures of John Lennon (N. 2) and Ringo Starr (N. 3), and also standing in front of the model of Diana Dors (N. 0). There’s also a cloth figure of the star off to the far right, wearing a jumper emblazoned with the slogan Welcome The Rolling Stones. The famous Sgt Pepper drum skin shows one of two designs by Joe Ephgrave, a fairground artist. His second design used more modern lettering and was attached to the other side of the bass drum, giving the group two options during the photo shoot.
Like the album itself, the soundtrack to the 1978 film Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is a legend in its own right. Where the Beatles' album was a groundbreaking moment in pop music, the Robert Stigwood film was an unmitigated disaster, an embarrassment not only to the Beatles, but to everyone involved in the production.
Here Comes The Sun - Sandy Farina. 3. Getting Better - Peter Frampton, The Bee Gees. 4. Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds - Dianne Steinberg, Stargard. The movie SGT PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND is a special kind of bad movie that only comes along every once in a while. An ill-advised concept, a bizarre mix of ingredients and excessively lavish production create a monstrously huge disaster of a movie that happens also to be supremely entertaining. Much of the album is made up of The Bee Gees and Peter Frampton's perfectly decent, if not lighthearted renditions of Beatles classics. Their shining moment comes during a medley of "Polythene Pam/She Came in Through the Bathroom Window/Nowhere Man/Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band Reprise. It's a fun, exciting, foot-tapping track.
