Emotional Rescue returns with the third (and final?) King Sporty & The Ex Tras releases with the first ever-official reissue of the highly sought after cult boogie jam Do You Wanna Dance? Coming as remastered vocal and instrumental, plus again featuring a special Discomix, this time courtesy of acid-disco slayer Felix Dickinson. Appearing shortly after the success of the band's only album, Extra Funky, Do You Wanna Dance? pointed the way forward, moving further from Disco and closer to the rising electro-boogie sounds that were sweeping the dance floors.

King Sporty & The Ex Tras Do You Wanna Dance? . The track was written and produced by Konduko label boss, Noel George Williams aka King Sporty in 1983. This was reissued a couple years ago with a Faze Action mix. When you hear this tune on a proper system, it's " no woooooonder" this was supposedly a Larry Levan fave.

In 1977 Sporty released an album, Mr. Rhythm, on his own Konduko label. He evolved from reggae to funk to disco to electro to Miami bass between the 1970s and 1980s. He worked with KC and the Sunshine Band and other TK Records artists, and had a few minor disco hits of his own with "Do You Wanna Dance" and "Meet Me At The Disco. Sporty found lasting hits in the electro funk canon with Connie Case's "Get on Down" and "Haven't Been Funked Enough," under his Ex Tras moniker when he made licensing deals with Tommy Boy Records in 1982. Sporty was given the Lifetime Achievement Award at the International Reggae and World Music Awards in 2010. Portions of this article are licensed under the GNU Free Documentation License. Thanks to SoulTracker Anastasie for letting us know about this.

The Konduko label was a gem of early 80s Miami groove, playing host to a range of projects from Noel Williams. It's a firecracker of a tune, revolving around a stuttering electro bassline and the loosest, funkiest set of drums, sounding fresh as a daisy with a new lick of mastering paint.

Like so many other recent reissues this suffers from too heavy filtering resulting in missing transients and lack of clarity which causes a very muddy sound.
