On Saturday August 1, 2015, Leroy May, who is better known as Red Dragon and initially as Redman, died in a Jamaican hospital after being ill for some time. In 1989 Winston Riley’s label Techniques released the split album Red Dragon vs. Flourgon that paired him with his brother Flourgon. That same year witnessed the birth of the artist’s own record label on which he released tunes by younger artists such as John Mouse, and of course material of own, with tunes like Old, Love Unuh and My Anthem achieving the most recognition. Between 1990 and 1991, he recorded very little, instead he concentrated on developing the new talent emerging from Rambo Mango and Flourgon’s Sweet Love set.
2] His success continued into the 21st century, and he continued to perform live but his releases became less frequent May became a Rastafarian and no longer performs some of his earlier material, saying in 2008: "certain songs mi used to do mi wouldn't do anymore.
Leroy May (18 March 1966 – 31 July 2015), better known as Red Dragon and initially as Redman, was a Jamaican deejay who was active starting in the early 1980s. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, May deejayed with several sound systems in the early 1980s, including Barrington Hi Fi, Stone Love, People's Choice, and his own Rambo Mango, initially working under the name Redman. His "Laughing Dragon" dubplate became popular, prompting a change of stage name to Red Dragon
