Tigran Hamasyan, new solo album 'An Ancient Observer' coming out march 2017. With pianist/composer Tigran Hamasyan, potent jazz improvisation fuses with the rich folkloric music of his native Armenia. Turning 30 in 2017, he’s one of the most remarkable and distinctive jazz-meets-rock pianists of his generation. A piano virtuoso with groove power, Tigran’s latest adventurous project is 2017’s An Ancient Observer, his second solo album, his eighth overall as a sole leader, and his sophomore recording for Nonesuch.
Tigran Hamasyan (Armenian: Տիգրան Համասյան; born July 17, 1987) is an Armenian jazz pianist. He plays mostly original compositions, which are strongly influenced by the Armenian folk tradition, often using its scales and modalities. Tigran Hamasyan - Listen toTigran Hamasyan on Deezer. Tetrachords have their origin in Greek music and use a format where the last note of a tetrachord forms the first note of the next creating a theoretically endless scale. This provides an interesting platform from which to explore jazz progressions and Hamasyan is a masterful exponent of this unique format.
