One Wild Cat Big Jim Sullivan was born as James George Tomkins on February 14, 1941, in Uxbridge, Middlesex, England. His mother died when he was just 2 years old, and his grandparents raised him until he moved in with his aunt and uncle as a teenager. Sullivan first picked up the guitar at age 14, and like many fledgling, young guitarists around England, it was the music emanating from America that captured his heart.
