Incognito is the fifth studio album by French singer Amanda Lear, released in 1981 by West German label Ariola Records. The album was a moderate chart success. After Diamonds for Breakfast, Amanda Lear wanted to record more music to her own taste. The singer teamed up with producer Trevor Horn and started recording a rock-influenced album in London, however, Ariola Records did not approve of the material and persuaded her to work on a new album with Anthony Monn.

The album Jazz Funk is one of nostalgia for me. It was a favourite album when I was growing up, and since its release, I followed Incognito’s acid jazz career closely. Hearing jazz music performed live is, I believe, one of the best showcases of musical talent. They opened the show with the title track from the 2002 album Who Needs Love, before journeying through some of their newer material. They played Amplified Soul, the 2014 album, in its entirety, and it was really special to be some of the first people to hear it performed live.

Getting a new album from Incognito is always cause for celebration. As much as I love many bassists’ solo records where the bass takes a lead instrument role, personally I would like to make a bass-lead album as opposed to a ‘lead bass’ album, if you know what I mean. Also some of my musical influences maybe aren’t so typical to hear on most bass player’s records. I’ve been into DJ culture for longer than I’ve been a bassist and my music will reflect that
