His television program, later known as Donahue, was the first talk show format that included audience participation. The lyrics were a nod to Otis' song 'I Love You More Than Words Can Say,' and the melody was 'reminiscent' of James Brown's 'It's a Man's World. The next night we began recording the album. I insisted we record 'I Love You' first. We put down a blistering track, and it looked like this was gonna be an easy album to make.
