Gove Scrivenor (b. 1945 New Haven, Connecticut) is an American singer, songwriter, and musician. Scrivenor is an autoharp player, and includes the instrument in many of his songs. He plays predominantly country and folk music. Gove moved to Nashville in the early 70s after a four-year stint as a submarine sonar technician in the Navy. This move proved to be a wise one, as he was signed by the largest music publishing company in the world, Acuff-Rose

Buttressed by folks such as Doc Watson, John Hartford, and Buddy Emmons, Scrivenor’s full, ripe, cozy voice sucks you in along with his subtly effective work on autoharp, slide guitar, and fingerpicked guitar. The warm and welcoming vibe of the session simply leaps out at you. The eight cuts from 1979’s Coconut Gove, with a young Marty Stuart on board, don’t quite stack up, but come awfully close. Then, several years ago I heard he was coming to Atlanta to play at Eddies Attic, and I just had to go and meet him again.
