Master Blaster (Jammin)" is a 1980 single by American singer-songwriter Stevie Wonder from his 1980 album Hotter than July. The song, built on a heavy reggae feel, is an ode to reggae legend Bob Marley; Wonder had been performing live with Marley (billing him as an opening act) on his US tour in the fall of that year. Lyrics mention "children of Jah", "Marley's Hot on the box" and the end of the civil war in Zimbabwe.

The Reggae-inspired Master Blaster (Jammin') was the first single off Stevie Wonder’s 1980 album Hotter Than July. The song interpolates Jamming by Bob Marley and the Wailers, one of several tributes to Marley in the track. Master Blaster (Jammin’)" Track Info. Written By Stevie Wonder. Lead Vocals Stevie Wonder. Backing Vocals Marva Holcolm, Alexandra Brown Evans, Shirley Brewer & 1 more. Trumpet Larry Gittens.

Everyone's feeling pretty It's hotter than July Though the world's full of problems They couldn't touch us even if they tried From the park I hear rhythms Marley's hot on the box Tonight there will be a party On the corner at the end of the block. The first single from the album. One of the opening lines on this song, "It's hotter than July", gave the name to the album. Stevie Wonder met Marley in 1975 when Wonder had a concert in Kingston. Bob Marley is mentioned in this song, and it also uses a reggae rhythm. The line, "Joined as children in Jah" is a reference to the Rastafarian name for God.

The phrase "Master Blaster" is never uttered by Wonder in this song: it is sung by the backup singers in the line, "We're in the middle of the makin's of the master blaster jammin'. In this context, the "Master Blaster" is God or whatever higher power you believe in. The album title comes from the opening line in this song: "Everyone's feeling pretty, it's hotter than July. Song: Master blaster (Jammin') Artist: Stevie Wonder Composer: Stevie Wonder Album: Hotter than July Tabbed by DJ 3th May 2016. Although this is mostly a chord version, there is no real alternative than tablature for the breaks. For a single guitarist, kicking in an effects pedal like the Boss OC-2 for those unison breaks could be affective
