In 1977 the Victims recorded their debut single, "Television Addict" (Faulkner/Baker), "I'm Flipped Out Over You" (Baker/Buncle), of which only 1,000 copies were pressed. In August 1978 they released a five-track extended play, The Victims (also known as No Thanks to the Human Turd), with: "I Understand", "Open Your Eyes", "TV Freak", "High School Girls" and "Disco Junkies". Baker was one of the writers of the latter four tracks; the identity of his co-composer was disputed – some sources attributing. By mid-1978 the Victims had disbanded, they briefly reunited in early 1979 to provide a farewell gig. Baker was a founder of The Scientists (1978–81). Flick reverted to using his surname
Television Addict" was the A-side of the debut single by The Victims, an early punk rock band from Perth, Western Australia. The song is a mainstay of compilations of Australian punk from the 1970s, and has been recorded by the Hoodoo Gurus, You Am I, The Hellacopters and Teengenerate. It was co-written by singer-guitarist Dave Faulkner (known at the time as Dave Flick) and drummer James Baker

Going by the name of the Television Addicts (the A-side to their 1977 single and best-known track), they were joined by lifelong Victims fan Ray Ahn from the Hard Ons and proceeded to belt out a set of classic Victims tunes, including "Disco Junkies", Out of My Head, and of course, Television Addict. Yeah If I had one regret if would be not being able to somehow find some money to record an album when we recorded Television Addict. We were on fire, and there’s something about that recording that is amazing. If we just had another two or three days we could have made a fucking album. But isn’t part of the mystique and legend that surrounds the Victims the limited recorded output? Yeah I guess, but I’d rather be remembered for a killer album than a killer single. Just hearing the way the single was recorded it was a perfect setting. Why did the band finish up?
The Victims were an Aussie Punk band in the 70's with the lead singer being Dave Faulkner who would later be the lead singer in The Hoodoo Gurus. Nick Nuisance and the Deliquents play a good cover.
