Holy Land is a 1996 concept album by Brazilian metal band Angra. Its theme is centered on the Brazilian land by the time it was discovered in the 16th century, as depicted in the art surrounding the album release. Once fully opened, the cover illustration turns out to be an old 15th-century map. Title track "Holy Land" contains many indigenous and folkloric influences taken from Brazilian music, but also includes classical arrangements symbolizing Europe at the time.
Holy Land was a concept album, fusing traditional Brazilian music into Angra's crafty blend of wer metal. With Holy Land, Angra tries to make a tribute to their homeland. This could be a concept album, but don’t get upset about it, I know, concept albums seem to be the same in power metal, but this is no about the traditional knights and maidens stor. ave you ever listened to a concept album about sailors and explorers?
The Holy Land is a concept album, the third gospel album and 30th overall album by country singer Johnny Cash, released on Columbia Records in 1969.

The year was 1996 and São-Paulo-based Angra, although having released a single full-length album, had already achieved significant popularity in the underworld of Power Metal, even counting with a growing fan base in Japan. Their debut album, Angels Cry, consisted of relentless, unique Power Metal with Progressive and Classical influences.
Holy Land is Angra's best album with Andr Matos, but it is not as good as it should be. In Holy Land, Angra partially drops the melodic metal they presented us in their debut entitled Angel's Cry and strives for a complexer sound, a complexer music and they, also, partially achieve it. Merging classical music influences (mostly baroque, which fit the album thematics and concept very well) with brazilian folk music, specially afro-brazilian, indian and caboclo tunes, and Angra's characteristic melodic metal, the band deliver us a much more intricate and better worked album than.
Angra replaces the classic progressive metal sound found on Angels Cry with metal. There are a couple of standard metal tracks, "Nothing to Say" and ". " which would have fit on Angels Cry. The rest of Holy Land features the slower songs "Make Believe," "Deep Blue" and "Lullaby for Lucifer," plus songs influenced by Brazilian rhythms, including "Silence and Distance," "Holy Land," and "The Shaman. This mixing of styles works beautifully.
