Leroy Smart (Jahrgang 1952, verwaist im Alter von zwei Jahren, mit Ausbildung an der berühmten Alpha Boys School) begann seine Karriere im Jahr 1969 und mit mehr als 35 Alben gilt er als einer der aussergewöhnlichsten und buntesten Charaktere Jamaikas. Er erscheint auch in dem Kultfilm Rockers zusammen mit Zeitgenossen wie Gregory Isaacs und Jacob Miller.
