This is a band that happens to do a okay job as breaking the mold of deathcore clichés and also crafts a formula so unadulterated, but knocks your dick in the dirt with its heavyness at the same time. I always appreciate a metal album with a real drummer. His snare tone is maybe a slight ping-less from getting into the 'brutal snare' territory of typical slam bands, but still a nice tone. Lastly, the vocals aren't too impressive, but not bad either. Assimilated Deformation is an absolute blockbuster of a deathcore release, it is so ungodly underrated and I am deeply saddened that The Grieving Process didn't make the heavy-hitter ranks of the 1st deathcore wave back during MySpace. However, it's never too late to listen to music, and with that said I urge anyone (whether you hate deathcore or love it) to check this album out.
Assimilated Deformation" is the first album of a new band from USA, The Grieving Process. This band, like a ton of other ones nowadays, plays Brutal Death Metal and if I cannot say that it's a bad Death Metal, I have to tell you that it's extremely classic and definitely not original. The problem of The Grieving Process is that they're not a bad band but their first album is so basic and conventional that I cannot see how some people here will find a real interest in this release.

The Grieving Process 2007. Twilight of '68. The Grieving Process 2007. See All.
As an EP, Assimilated Deformation works fine. There’s a weird Noise-y intro, lots of brutal tech-riffs and beats that’ll get the most reluctant Metaller bouncing about, and a closing song that breaks the three-minute-odd limit, and all in under half an hour. When it’s over, however, there’s a sense of relief – Brutal Death Metal is nothing if it can’t keep your interest, and when it start to feel like an ordeal, something’s gone wrong. Give this band the benefit of the doubt, however, and for a quick dose of brutality you won’t go wrong. Here’s hoping the album takes more chances.
