Nuggets: Original Artyfacts from the First Psychedelic Era is a compilation album of American psychedelic and garage rock singles released in the mid-to-late 1960s. It was assembled by Lenny Kaye, who at the time was a writer and clerk at the Village Oldies record shop in New York. He would later become the lead guitarist for the Patti Smith Group. Kaye worked on Nuggets under the supervision of Jac Holzman, founder of Elektra Records.

Nuggets proved to be of seismic importance in the years after its release, but just as importantly, it's a blast to listen to; Kaye's sequencing gives the album the joyous flow of a great afternoon of AM radio, and the album blends hits both big ("Pushin' Too Hard" by the Seeds, "Psychotic Reaction" by Count Five) and small .

Nuggets From Nuggets: Choice Artyfacts From The First Psychedelic Era. Nuggets From Nuggets. Hard To Find 45s On CD, Volume 17 - Late Sixties Classics. 100 Hits: The Best Sixties Album. An elaboration on the 1972 double LP, which is included in its original sequence, this set piles on dozens more great moments of inspiration, guts, chutzpah, and sometimes sheer commercial calculation.

First released in 1972 on Elektra Records, the compilation is among the only ‘various artists' titles to consistently wind up on published lists of ‘all-time top albums'. Nuggets spawned more than 200 like-minded collections under such titles as Pebbles and Back From The Grave, and is a consistent compilation favourite and has carved out a genre of its own.

Fantastic Box set! The music is great! The problem is (as far as I know) only in my copy, but my booklet is defective, strange you say...My booklet printed pages 19-34 twice and is missing pages 35-50. Someone help me!!! I love this boxset, but have no desire to buy a 2nd copy just to get those missing 15 pages of the booklet, when the CDs themselves are perfect! So, A: In this day in age where everything is viewable on the internet, can anyone tell me where I can find and possibly print the contents of those missing pages of the booklet or for that matter is there someone out there who loves this box like I do and has a perfect booklet, a scanner, and can email me the contents of pages 35-50?, or where I can buy the booklet only for less than the box set price? And B: Am I the only person who bought a copy of this box with this twisted defect? Please let me know if you know where I can get this info, but as far as the quality of the music, I love this box, from classics like "Dirty Water" or "7 and 7 Is" to great garage classics by the 13th Floor Elevators and the Sonics to the really obscure, while not EVERY single song is Fantastic, as a whole the box is so full of great tunes that any mediocre tunes are more than made up for by the vast majority of material. I would recommend this box to anyone who likes garage or wants to hear the roots of psychedelic music(pre-acid boom of '68-71), just check to make sure your booklet has all the pages before throwing away receipt.

I'm sorry to hear about that. I don't know whats up with Rhino. They release some great stuff, but it seems a lot of stuff comes out defective. I bought a copy of "No Thanks! The 70's Punk Rebellion" and I got Disc 1, 2, 3 and 3! No disc 4. I returned it to the seller I bought it from, and bought another from a different store. Thankfully it was right the second time. Anyway, I'm going to buy this "Nuggets" set soon and when I do, I 'll hook you up with some scans of pages 35-50. (If you still need it!)

Bad ass compilation - I can listen to all 4 CD's without ever skipping a track. Not sure what is so psychedelic about the music, maybe you had to be there? Whatever the description, this stuff is dope (especially if you're old or hang out with old people).
