Michael Geoffrey Ralphs (born 31 March 1944) is an English guitarist and songwriter, who was a founding member of rock bands Mott the Hoople and Bad Company. Ralphs began his career as a teenager, playing with blues-rock band the Buddies. He released a single with that group in 1964 before joining the Mod Doc Thomas Group in 1966. After an eponymous Italian album debut, the band changed its name twice, first to Silence in 1968 and then, in 1969, to Mott the Hoople. Ralphs remained with Mott until 1973.

Mick Ralphs solo album is a disappointment. It sounds like he had little better to do, rather than something to say. The songs are just not memorable enough, making this really just a 'die-hards only' release. The sleeve-notes confirm this: Mick says he had all these songs ready but Bad Co were'nt functioning any more, so he booked the studio and recorded them himself. Simon Kirke plays drums and Mickey Feat played bass, and Mick did everything else, including the arrangements and production. I think the album suffers because of this; there is no balls to Mick's playing and ultimately the songs are just not memorable. But then I'm not a musician.
Mick Ralphs, guitarist with 'Mott The Hoople' and 'Bad Company' originally released 'Take This' in 1984 and this re-issue by Angel Air contains ten bonus tracks of previously unreleased material and working mix/demo's of the original album. Ostensibly a rock album but with some blues roots showing this album is as valid today as it was in 1984 and is another excellent release by Angel Air. Interesting sleeve notes and an extensive discography make.
