Harrison also produced Starr's studio recording of the song, which was released as a non-album single in April 1971. Another version where they performed the song together for the 1971 Concert for Bangladesh was released on the live album of the same name.

NOT from any album, this was Ringo's first solo single release. Ringo composed the song in 1970 and allegedly recorded three versions. Two versions of these three versions are said to have George on guitar and the other with Eric Clapton on guitar. The released version was recorded 8th March 1970 and featured George on guitar, with Klaus Voorman, Steven Stills, Ron Cattermole(brass) and Ringo on drums. The B-side had Ringo on acoustic guitar, piano AND drums, with George on guitar and backing vocals.

With Ringo, Ringo Starr finally put his solo career in gear in 1973, after serving notice with back-to-back Top Ten singles in 1971 and 1972 that he had more to offer than his eccentric first two solo albums. Ringo was a big-budget pop album produced by Richard Perry and featuring Ringo's former Beatles bandmates as songwriters, singers, and instrumentalists. On no single track did all four appear, though George Harrison played the guitars on the John Lennon-penned leadoff track "I'm the Greatest," with Lennon playing piano and singing harmony. The original ten-track 1973 album got even better in 1991 as a 13-track CD reissue, the bonus tracks including the 1971 gold single "It Don't Come Easy" and its B-side, "Early 1970," a telling depiction of Ringo's perspective on the Beatles breakup.

Ringo is most notable for featuring all four former Beatles. John Lennon, George Harrison and Starr featured on the Lennon-penned song I'm The Greatest. Harrison co-wrote and performed on three other songs, while Paul McCartney wrote and performed on Six O'Clock and played kazoo on You're Sixteen. Starr's first two albums, Sentimental Journey and Beaucoups Of Blues, were both released in 1970. Although he scored subsequent hit singles with It Don't Come Easy and Back Off Boogaloo, he chose to focus on acting. However, in 1973 he returned to music, enlisting producer Richard Perry and a range of guest composers and performers. Ringo is most notable for featuring all four former Beatles, although not all on any single song.
