Office of Strategic Influence (OSI) is a side project from the Dream Theater stable. The sound and feel is not generally as heavy as DT, many of the tracks sounding more like Porcupine Tree. Although there appears to be a lot of "space" for the ambient sounds which prevail on the album, most of the tracks are relatively short. If you like the guitar sound and riffs on Fates Warnings Disconnected mixed with the more ambient mood of Chroma Key you just gotta love OSIs debut album Office of Strategic Influence. Kevin Moore sings on most of the songs with his mellow and nice vocals. Some say his vocals are indifferent and leaves them cold, but I really like them and even though they can seem emotionless, I think they suit the music well.

On Office of Strategic Influence the ingredients fit but the soup still tastes a bit too much like other soups. OSI is a supergroup featuring some legendary progressive musicians (Jim Matheos, Kevin Moore, Mike Portnoy, Sean Malone and Steven Wilson) with a strange mix of electronics and prog, lyrics and themes based around the agency of the same name (The Office of Strategic Influence was a propaganda agency created by the US goverment after the 9/11 attacks. Why" What is the purpose of OSI" Why form a supergroup if it was to bring back old ideas" The album opens with different samples and keyboards to forms a build up that explodes i. asic progressive metal. The song sure is technically impressive but it’s prog standart, even with a good bass line near the end the song, it just sounds a lot like most other bands out there, the difference here is that something was expected from that one.
