James Charles Rodgers (September 8, 1897 – May 26, 1933) was an American singer-songwriter and musician in the early 20th century, known most widely for his rhythmic yodeling. Rodgers was also known as "The Singing Brakeman", "The Blue Yodeler", and "The Father of Country Music".

Jimmie Rodgers was the first figure inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame and is fondly referred to as the Father of Country Music. Yet his combination of blues and hillbilly styles made him a true forebear of rock and roll, and he was also part of the first group of musicians inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Jimmie Rodgers was born in Meridian, Mississippi in 1897. At the age of 14, Rodgers began working on the M&O Railroad as a water boy. He had already started playing banjo and guitar, and he picked up blues influences from the black workers on his crew

And Away I Did Ride’. Country Music Hall of Fame member Marty Robbins-the supple baritone behind the hit "El Paso"-was a man of many talents, which he displayed on stage, in the studio, and on the racetrack. An accomplished stock car driver, Robbins routinely took the latest Grand Ole Opry segment, so he'd have time to race beforehand at the Nashville Speedway. From the elmer williams collection at the country music hall of fame and museum. Marty Stuart has a fittingly impressive list of guests lined up for his September shows as the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum's Artist-in-Residence, and he's just announced the names. You won't want to miss these once-in-a-lifetime, only-in-Nashville evenings.

The rotunda of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville, Tennessee. Return to top of page. The critical success of the album Shotgun Willie (1973), combined with the critical and commercial success of Red Headed Stranger (1975) and Stardust (1978), made Nelson one of the most recognized artists in country music. He was one of the main figures of outlaw country, a subgenre of country music that developed in the late 1960s as a reaction to the conservative restrictions of the Nashville sound. Nelson has acted in over 30 films, co-authored several books, and has been involved in activism for the use of biofuels and the legalization of marijuana.

Brooks, a Hall of Fame member, and Yearwood (a onetime Hall of Fame tour guide) both held back tears as they unveiled the honorees during a live-streaming press conference in Nashville. The addition of the three new members brings the Hall of Fame’s total membership to just 136 since Hank Williams, Jimmie Rodgers and Fred Rose were first selected in 1961, six years before the members had a permanent place in the original Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, which opened at the end of Music Row in 1967. Today, the current museum is the crown jewel of Music City’s downtown tourist attractions, with the bronze plaques of the Hall of Fame members enshrined in the building’s unique rotunda.
