Turn Blue is the eighth studio album by American rock duo the Black Keys. It was co-produced by Danger Mouse and the band, and was released on Nonesuch Records on May 12, 2014. The record was the group's fourth collaboration with Danger Mouse, following their previous studio album, El Camino (2011), which was their biggest commercial and critical success to that point
Turn Blue finds the Black Keys getting deep with themselves in several ways; Auerbach recently told Rolling Stone that the band set out to make a singles-bereft "Headphone record," and he's alluded elsewhere that his messy, allegation-laden divorce proceedings-which, in a elf touch, once was believed to include a lock of Bob Dylan's. hair-lent the album a "melancholy" vibe. Appropriately, Turn Blue sounds distant and subdued, a murky-sounding collection of '70s stoner-rock facsimiles and swirling gray tones that, for the most part, are.
Turn Blue, the Black Keys‘ eighth studio album, opens with seven minutes of slow burn and eccentric fury. Weight of Love is the sort of uproar most bands would save for a big finish. But the Keys – singer-guitarist Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney – and their co-producer Brian Burton, . Danger Mouse, show their nerve upfront in a mounting tension of acoustic guitar and painted-desert ambience, cut open by Auerbach’s machete-treble twang and battered by Carney’s unhurried John Bonham-like rolls. That LP’s crunchy mix of Sixties soul and Midwest-garage glam was a rightful breakthrough. Turn Blue is a genuine turning point – into a decisively original rock, with a deeper shade of blues. You still get the minimalist vigor of the Keys’ first records a decade ago.
Produced by Patrick Carney, Dan Auerbach & Danger Mouse.

The latest album Turn Blue from The Black Keys is one that should catch some ears. The duo of Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney came together in 2001 as a bluesy rock band and since have turned into one of the most prominent ‘garage bands’ of today. After gaining mainstream popularity with their albums Brothers and El Camino, the group dropped their album "Turn Blue" in 2014 after speculation that they would again. Lyrically, the Black Keys' have grown as artists from "Girl, you look so good" to "Woman, you done me wrong," the shift in lyrical tone undeniably were affected by Auerbach's personal troubles.
The black keys on a piano raise and lower notes to enrich and diversify a piece of music. Or, to use a more nebulous definition, they’re the ones that direct your emotions, the ones we have the most visceral and inexplicable reactions to. The Black Keys on your radio once had a similar effect. Its kitschy keyboard hook might be the closest thing ‘Turn Blue’ has to a ‘Tighten Up’ or a ‘Gold On The Ceiling’, but this is an album less concerned with immediacy than atmosphere: opening track ‘Weight Of Love’ establishes as much with a lengthy, meandering intro that recalls Neil Young’s ‘Cortez The Killer’, and there’s an inspired, willfully-indulgent moment towards. the end of its seven-minute runtime where three or four different guitar solos are vying for primacy.
