Zebulon was risen from the ashes of Desultory, a band formed back in 1989. Between 1993-1996, Desultory released three full-length albums, Into eternity, Bitterness and Swallow the snake. They all recieved great media- and fanresponse and were supported by extensive european touring. After fulfilling the 3-album deal they parted from Metal Blade records and the cooperation was over. One year earlier ead more on Last. Djaxbreakbeatz, Volume 2. 1998.

This is literally the worst record I have ever come across in my entire life and it’s a nice example of how an artwork can mislead you when diggin' for records at a flea market. While the cover looks quite promising the music in fact is terrible. The tracks basically sound as if someone tried out the multiple pre-programmed standard patterns of his drum machine or sequencer by simply playing them in a row. The composition entirely lacks any kind of build-up and the single sequences that make up the tracks aren’t integrated at all. I could understand in case this was meant to be a tool record but considering the actual track names and the fact that there aren’t any breaks between the single sequences makes me doubt about this intention. From my previous experiences with the Djax labels I know one needs to be somewhat selective about their releases as Miss Djax apparently does not seem to be about what to release and what not. Nevertheless, I still value the Djax labels for their many groundbreaking releases and that is also a reason why I bought this record which I deeply regretted ever since. After all, this is just a waste of money, a waste of wax and for sure a waste of such a nice cover art.
