Hotfoot Powder (Disc One). Hotfood Powder with special guests Buddy Guy, Honeyboy Edwards, Dr. John, Otis Rush, Joe Louis Walker & Hubert Sumlin.

2000 studio album by Peter Green Splinter Group. Studio album by. Peter Green Splinter Group. Like one of the group's previous albums, The Robert Johnson Songbook, Hot Foot Powder consisted of songs written by Robert Johnson, and included contributions by a number of notable blues musicians, including Buddy Guy, Hubert Sumlin, Otis Rush, David Honeyboy Edwards, Joe Louis Walker and Dr. John. It was re-released in 2004 by Snapper Music with bonus tracks.

The Robert Johnson Songbook is Peter Green's first recording made entirely of covers of the music written by the King of the Delta Blues. Unfortunately, though pleasant, The Robert Johnson Songbook lacks the warmth and soulfulness of its successor - Hot Foot Powder. The Robert Johnson Songbook features Green's Splinter Group, plus a guest appearance by Paul Rodgers.

Excellent works of Robert Johnson with a wonderful melancholic voice of Peter Green and fantastic execution of Nigel Watson. On "The Robert Johnson Songbook", and its 13-track companion volume "Hot Foot Powder", Peter Green goes through all of Robert Johnson's twenty-nine recorded songs. This is Robert Johnson's songs, after all, and while Peter Green has updated the arrangements to a certain degree, he doesn't really alter any of the songs enough to offend any Johnson lovers. A little bit more variation might be nice, but "The Robert Johnson Songbook" is a perfectly good record as it is. And it's successor, "Hot Food Powder", is even better, so don't forget to pick up both of them.

The album consisted entirely of songs composed by legendary blues artist Robert Johnson, and featured a guest appearance by Paul Rodgers, ex-lead vocalist of Free and Bad Company, who later worked with Queen. Released in 1998, this was their second album. Green was the founder of Fleetwood Mac and a member of that group from 1967-70, before a sporadic solo career during the late 1970s and early 1980s. The album consisted entirely of songs composed by legendary blues artist Robert Johnson, and featured a guest appearance by Paul Rodgers, ex-lead vocalist of Free and Bad Company, who later worked with Queen. This was the first Splinter Group album to feature Roger Cotton and Larry Tolfree, after the departure of Cozy Powell and Spike Edney.
