Peter Buck: We were doing an acoustic tour of Europe for Out of Time. It didn't meet the lowly standards of Bingo Hand Job. Mills: We were just playing it fast and loose. We were just having a good time and enjoying ourselves.

Еще клипы REM (Bingo Hand Job). Загружено: 2013/02/06. This must of been around the same time as when they were doing there unplugged.

No witnesses of a Bingo Hand Job gig could be found. No recordings existed. Who were these guys only known as The Doc, Raoul, Ophelia and Stinky (with friends Spanish Charlie, Conrad and Violet)? Legendary, colossal and now of mythical proportions, the second night – March 15, 1991 – will now finally and officially released for the very first, and only time

I have to say having read many of the comments regarding sound quality I rather like it.The Borderline is a small venue and its acoustic is really well captured here the slight bommy echo is bang on and the unplugged tracks come across beautifully. If this was an audience recording it is a minor miracle. I wonder what it was recorded on phones weren't so smart in 91 give it an other try it may grow on you. Close your eyes and your back there in John Major land.

Tygralbine
All - what did you expect? It was clear in the first place that this show hasn't been recorded (officially). Did you think that any of the audience had a ful grown recording studio in his pocket and that's why they decided to officially release it?I am not that hardcore R.E.M. Fan mentioned below and i still dig the release - eventhought it was a bit pricy i have to admit...classic recordstore day shopping spree item!

Peras
At no point was anything ever mentioned in any listing either on the band site, or the RSD site saying this was a soundboard recording. If you don't do your reasearch, then you shouldnt have high expectations. It's simply a bootleg live album released on vinyl for the first time sanctioned by the band. I dont know what kind of set up you all have either, because it sounds nowhere near " a walkman in a sock...muffled by water." I do agree the sound of the Unplugged is far superior...but thats what happens when MTV is involved. This is from a club...in Germany in the early ninties. You cant really expect anything more considering it was a "secret" show.

Gralmeena
I didn't intend buying this, miffed at the abridged track listing, but got sucked in by the wonderful artwork and the RSD adrenaline. My disappointment from getting the duplicate 1st records was only doubled when I put it on and heard how bad the quality is. Sounds like it was recorded by a Walkman in a sock. Underwater. I'm not unfamiliar with bootlegs and can put up with a fair bit but the fact that this is an official release is kinda unbelievable. Returned for refund, as were the other 3 at the point of purchase.

Fek
You are wrong. In my opinion. Yes, I was expecting a officially live recording done by the crew of r.e.m. . This live recording is nothing else than an even bad bootleg quality. Useless in any direction. If I would be the band I can not allow to press this on vinyl. They did?

Bluecliff
I wish my research had gone beyond trying to obtain a copy of this release. If I had known this was a vinyl copy of the audience-recorded bootleg, I would have passed on this. The only appeal to me was that a soundboard recording was finally being made available. Considering “Tom’s Diner” from the Near Wild Heaven single was soundboard, one would have to think that a soundboard recording of the entire show has to exist. I am thankful I was able to purchase this at a fair price, as I imagine that many of the people paying the inflated prices via eBay, et al. are going to be outraged, as I am willing to bet that they, too are under the same assumption of this being a soundboard recording. I definitely would not have expected this from R.E.M. I remember an interview with Peter Buck back in the 80’s (proud to be an early R.E.M. fan!) in which he stated, “Bootleggers, mind your quality.” I guess this only applies when others are profiting from the sale! And don’t get me started on RSD. I get that the idea stemmed from the desire to keep independent record stores alive… er, I mean to "celebrate the culture of the independently owned record store". I think it’s safe to say that vinyl is more than a novelty today. It’s a pity to think that RSD founders, as well as the contributing artist’s are content with letting the good people that shell out their hard-earned money for these releases have to wait in a long line to finally get a chance to obtain a release, which there may only be a few copies of, only to find that none are available; forcing them to make the decision as to whether they should (or are able to) buy at severely inflated prices on eBay, et al. A message to RSD and contributing artists: please be sensible with your offerings and make releases available to fans at the fair prices AND make enough product to go around, so people don’t have to be gouged by the greedy secondhand sellers!

spacebreeze
Disappointed by this release. It is essentially the same thing as R.E.M. unplugged 1991 with the exception of a few covers. Not pleased with it!

Muniath
R.E.M. is working on a fix for those who didn't get both LP's. They'll announce it on social media when they figure it out.

Friert
What a terrible recording. I have no idea why any band would actually release something like this on double vinyl.

Sataxe
yes, I noticed the sound is not too good hearing one song from this they posted online, so I didn't buy... sound like it was recorded from the audience with tape recorder... well, 95% of this set of songs can be found on '91 mtv unplugged and it's recorded perfectly.. so why bother listening to this

Auridora
so does this have losing my religion? its not on the inner sleeves but is on the record label?

wanderpool
Yes it does. On both label and listed on inner sleeve and obi strip.

sergant
Does anyone know if this is a better sounding release of this show than the old bootlegs? I’ve got:https://www.discogs.com/REM-As-Bingohandjob-The-Borderline-Club-15391/release/2248415and it’s not too bad. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!!

Malalanim
r.e.m. posted "Radio song" from this album on their official youtube channel so you can hear how it sounds...sound like it was recorded from the audience with tape recorder... 95% of this set of songs can be found on '91 mtv unplugged and it's recorded perfectly.. so why bother listening to this ... same show, probably just few days apart

Fani
Different order to track listing of that version but that could be because it was recorded at the other of the two gigs. Sound isn't awful, but it was clearly recorded with a rather simple set up.

Gavigamand
So my copy has two of second record and none of the first... anyone else?

DrayLOVE
mine has two of the first record ... and it was not the only one in the store ... gave it back today, they will look out for a solution.

Helldor
I've seen a few on the band's facebook account say that they got 2 copies of the first LP. They're all in Europe/Australia. Arrange a trade with one and you won't have to wait for the coming fix.

Painshade
If you haven't seen it yet, R.E.M. posted on facebook that they are aware of the problem, working on a fix, and to hold on to your copies. Follow their page for updates.

DART-SKRIMER
I have the first disc twice. Would be very happy to trade with someone who has got two of the second discs.

Clonanau
hi rogeri live in Austria and my record had two copies of the first disc! The shop had another copy so i was able to exchange it, i guess they will be returning it to the distributor

SiIеnt
I’ve heard of people having the opposite problem. See the comments on REM’s Facebook page. You may find someone to trade with you

Ustamya
I have seen at least 2 others post they had that problem, but the other way around. :)

Macill
I had two of the first record. Went back to exchange, the store opened two others and had the same issue. Exchanged it for another record instead, wasn't too bummed about it since the audio quality of the recording wasn't great in the first place. Even as an R.E.M. completist I'm not too sad to have this gap in my collection.

Antuiserum
I’ve also heard of some people getting a greta van fleet lp instead

Bolanim
So then you have my second record? I've got your first...

Endieyab
You guys should trade ???? hard fix, but a fix.. interested in this but couldn’t find

Qudanilyr
In my case exactly the opposite: twice the first LP. Called my record store and they checked their other copies: same issue. So far nothing but crickets from REMHQ. Very disappointing.
