Songs without Words (Lieder ohne Worte) consists of eight books of short, lyrical piano pieces by Felix Mendelssohn. The Venetian Gondola Song (Andante sostenuto in G minor) is the sixth piece of Book 1 (Opus 19) and was written between 1829 and 1830. The Venetian Boat Song 2 (Allegretto tranquillo in F-sharp minor) is the sixth piece of Book 2 (Opus 30) and was written between 1833 and 1834.
Songs Without Words (Lieder ohne Worte) is a series of short lyrical piano pieces by the Romantic composer Felix Mendelssohn, written between 1829 and 1845. His sister Fanny Mendelssohn and other composers also wrote pieces in the same genre. The eight volumes of Songs Without Words, each consisting of six "songs" (Lieder), were written at various points throughout Mendelssohn's life, and were published separately.
