Time Out is a studio album by the American jazz group the Dave Brubeck Quartet, released in 1959 on Columbia Records. Recorded at Columbia's 30th Street Studio in New York City, it is based upon the use of time signatures that were unusual for jazz such as 98, 64 and 54. The album is a subtle blend of cool and West Coast jazz. It peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard pop albums chart, and has been certified platinum by the RIAA.

Dave Brubeck emerged after the Second World War as a pianist whose eclectic style owed itself to several different schools of piano playing. Throughout the 1950's, Brubeck enjoyed as much commercial success as any jazz musician could have wished for, becoming one of the biggest acts in the business. Famous mostly for his experiments with rhythm, influenced equally as much by Bach as he was by swing, his compositions would betray sophisticated time signatures intertwined with classical references
These budget-priced completely remastered collections feature full-length album classics - in this case five "time"-themed albums by the Dave Brubeck Quartet beginning with the classic 1959 album Time Out and ending with 1966's Time In. In between are Time Further Out (1961), Countdown: Time in Outer Space (1962), and Time Changes (1964). Hardcore Brubeck fans already have these, no doubt. That said, this is a grand place to get started. These recordings all contain bonus material. Track Listing - Disc 1. Title/Composer. 1. Blue Rondo à la Turk
