The second album from Art of Trance sees them exploring a more commercial, less edgy sound, in parallel with their label (Platipus) moving into the more radio friendly house mainstream. Indeed a few of the tracks from this album have enjoyed commercial success. Once again the production is deep and lush, and the direction is generally more prgressive than 'Wildlife On One'. All of the tracks are, as one would expect, very high quality. Standout tracks for me are 'Breathe' and 'Voice of Earth'.

Art Of Trance debut album ‘Wildlife on One’ went on to sell over 30,000 copies worldwide. It typifies the real sound of AOT – earthy and organic with various sounds of nature intrinsically woven into the music. Emotion and humour are two of the ideals that Simon tries to infuse into his music and it’s this that sets his sound apart from the rest of the crowd. It was one of the biggest club records of the year and paved the way nicely for the timely release of the album Voice Of Earth. A beautifully crafted album that conveys character, identity, freshness and stayed true to the vision that Simon founded the label on. With so many changes in the music business, Platipus has kept up to speed with the ever-evolving dance environment. 2001 opened the doors to a new state of the art studio for Art Of Trance.

Listen to the Art of Trance song Octopus [Man with no name remix] if you want to hear how Art Of trance played in the world of Goa Trance back in 1995. Amazing track. Maybe then you can understand why some fans might feel disappointed in this more commercial offering.

Also, I feel compelled to voice my shock at maxi_vinylnut's assertion that "Breathe" isn't very good, to me it's clearly the album's best along with Monsoon, the rest of the tracks don't even come close - perhaps "Panorama" on a good day, though it might make me want to go listen to some Satie instead. On a whole though it's a decent album to listen to when you're (I'm) out and about on a good day, but the first two tracks are a couple of the few true classic tracks of progressive trance music.

Hey, whaddya know - I randomly stumbled upon what has got to be the inspiration for the "ever so lonely" line in "Monsoon": Monsoon - "Ever So Lonely". Even the voices sound similar.

I don't agree with ReeferMans comment that this is more commercial radio friendly house mainstream than Wildlife on one, ( he is certainly entitled to his opinion) to me This still falls squarely into the trance genre. Most tracks of this were very good, DUD UK, Panorama, Monsoon, The Hummer are all excellent tracks with the exception of Breathe which i didn't like mainly because of the vocal in that track but all in all this album is a must for Art of Trance fans and Platipus records alike !!!

As some of the Art of Trance tracks, "Panorama" is inspired in a classical music masterpiece. In this case, piano parts belongs to "Erik Satie - 1ère Gymnopédie".But it never appeared on any credit.
