Daft Punk's Electroma (also known as Electroma) is a 2006 science fiction film directed by the French electronic music duo Daft Punk. The story revolves around the quest of two robots (the band members, played by Peter Hurteau and Michael Reich) to become human. The music featured in the film is not by Daft Punk, which is a first for the duo after their previous film and home video releases, .
Daft Punk produced the film under the supervision of Leiji Matsumoto, whom they have said is their childhood hero. The album Daft Club was also released to promote the film. Starting on September 13, 2004, Daft Punk devoted six weeks to creating new material. The duo released the album Human After All in March 2005.

Daft Punk have never done things by halves. Indeed devotees have begun weaving a number of frenzied online theories concerning the film. Not least that if you play Daft Punk's last album, Human After All, alongside Electroma, the two sync up. 'The film responds to the moods of the album,' laughs Bangalter, 'but no, it's not correct.
Nevertheless, Daft Punk's work definitely furthered the acceptance of electronic music in mainstream culture. They have released four albums thus far, alongside film scores, two films of their own creation and several side projects. Daft Punk followed this up with 2001's Discovery, which combined soul and disco samples with slick production values. The entire album was the score for an anime film, Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5olar 5ystem (directed by the legendary Leiji Matsumoto) and featured some of their most recognizable hits, "One More Time" and "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger".
