The Coathangers Live. The Coathangers’ eponymous 2007 album was a rowdy, ramshackle, and infectious debut. The album’s intoxicating revelry gained traction outside of Georgia, eventually leading to a record deal with Seattle’s Suicide Squeeze Records and the band’s first forays into national touring. This newly restored unity is immediately evident on their latest album The Devil You Know. As a statement on moving forward and abandoning the baggage of the past, The Devil You Know succeeds in capturing the arduous road to maturity while striking a perfect balance between the fiery spirit of their youth and the psychic creative interplay of a musical bond that has held The Coathangers together for over a decade.

Whatever the source of that magic, The Coathangers have always wrangled a replication of that sweaty and sticky live feeling, but the time had come to properly document it. LIVE captures the playful fervor of The Coathangers at their finest. Says guitarist/vocalist Julia Kugel, it's like our antholog. ur entire career in 38 minutes, from the slow-burn pop of Captain’s Dead off last year’s Parasite EP to the rabblerousing rocker Tonya Harding off their self-titled debut.
Long-time keyboardist Candice Jones (Bebe Coathanger), left the band amicably in 2013. This happened about three years ago, and it wasn't on bad terms," explains Stephanie Luke of the exit. Candice just wanted to go on to pursue college and other things.
The Coathangers - The Coathangers (2007). Songs in album The Coathangers - The Coathangers (2007). 1. ''Why This Record'' Intro.
The Coathangers are a rock band from Atlanta, Georgia. They are: The Crook Kid Coathanger: Vocals, guitar, tamborine; Minnie Coathanger: Vocals, bass, tamborine; Rusty Coathanger: Vocals, drums; Bebe Coathanger: Vocals, keys. The band formed in 2006 as a joke, played a house show and were asked to open for The Hiss on the strength of their performance. The name was chosen for its vulgarity - an irreverent take on abortions - though all band members are pro-choice.
But The Coathangers, hailing from Atlanta, Georgia, have managed to do just that, putting out 5 full-length albums as well as over a dozen singles, splits, and EPs. Not bad for a band initially formed with the sole intention of just hanging out and playing a few of their friends' house parties. It's precisely the desire to bottle that convivial atmosphere that made the band want to do an album composed exclusively of their live performances. Kugel says it was a natural next step for the band as, "live shows have always been where we feel most comfortable and natural.
The Devil You Know (The Coathangers album). The Devil You Know is the sixth studio album by The Coathangers, a punk rock band based in Atlanta, Georgia. Julia Kugel-Montoya (Crook Kid Coathanger) – Guitar, vocals. Stephanie Luke (Rusty Coathanger) – Drums, vocals.
